01

Urgent

Some symptoms need care, not massage

Chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, major trauma, or possible blood-clot symptoms can be urgent. Do not delay evaluation to keep an appointment.

  • Use emergency services when appropriate
  • Do not massage a suspected clot
  • Cancel the session
02

Contact a clinician

New or complex health changes deserve individual guidance

Recent surgery, cancer treatment, anticoagulants, fractures, severe osteoporosis, infection, unexplained swelling, or acute injury may require modification or postponement.

  • Ask the treating team
  • Share only relevant information
  • Find a therapist with appropriate training
03

Reschedule

Protect the therapist and other clients from illness

Fever, vomiting, significant contagious symptoms, or feeling too unwell to participate are practical reasons to stay home. Ask how the practice handles illness-related changes.

  • Review cancellation terms
  • Do not hide symptoms
  • Book again when appropriate
