01

Position

Support the hand before adding pressure

Rest the forearm and hand on a table or lap. Let the fingers remain loose rather than pulling them into a strong stretch.

  • Remove restrictive jewelry
  • Start with opening and closing
  • Keep the wrist neutral
02

Movement

Use broad thumb pads and palm contact

Glide across the palm, circle the muscular base of the thumb lightly, then move each finger gently without forcing a joint.

  • Avoid hard pressure on joints
  • Skip inflamed or injured areas
  • Use less pressure over numbness
03

Stop

Neurological symptoms are not a cue for more pressure

Stop for sharp, electric, burning, numb, weak, swollen, or worsening symptoms. Persistent hand symptoms deserve appropriate evaluation.

  • One round is enough
  • Movement may work better
  • Do not massage a recent injury
