Your choice
Undress only to your comfort level
The therapist should leave while you change and should not negotiate you into more undress. You may remain fully clothed, keep underwear on, or undress further under the sheet.
- No clothing choice proves trust
- Consent is not implied by payment
- Ask about options before booking
Technique
Clothing changes access, not your rights
Oil-based gliding techniques may be limited over clothing, while compression, stretching, or seated work may adapt well. The provider should explain alternatives in plain language.
- Choose a clothed modality if preferred
- Skip any area without explanation
- Request more covering at any time
If pressured
A boundary violation is not part of massage
If someone pressures you to remove clothing or ignores your stated limit, pause or end the session. You can dress, leave, and use the appropriate complaint or licensing channel.
- Trust discomfort as information
- You can stop immediately
- Document details after you are safe
