Body hair
Shaving is not a massage requirement
Body hair is ordinary and therapists work with it routinely. Product choice and stroke direction can be adjusted if pulling feels uncomfortable.
- Do not shave solely for the appointment
- Mention skin sensitivity
- Ask for less product if preferred
Scars
Old and recent scars need different decisions
A healed scar may be comfortable to include or avoid. Recent surgery, open skin, infection, unexplained changes, or tender scars may require postponement or healthcare guidance.
- State whether touch is welcome
- Avoid unhealed tissue
- Do not promise scar removal
Respect
Your body should not become commentary
A therapist may ask relevant health or comfort questions but should not criticize appearance, weight, grooming, or scars. You can redirect or end the session.
- Keep questions relevant
- Decline personal commentary
- Report inappropriate conduct
